Sugar Broiled Grapefruit

Grapefruit for Dessert?

Satisfy that late-night sweet tooth with this delicious grapefruit recipe that won’t derail your diet. With just 2 tsp of sugar and a sprinkle of salt, this desert is easy to execute and is low in sugar and carbs.

Grapefruits have been known to be a fad diet food, but they can also serve as a vessel for a sweet and succulent dessert.


INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Ruby Grapefruits

  • 8 tsp. sugar (2 tsp. for each fruit half

  • Salt to taste

RECIPE

  1. Set oven to broil, and place cooking rack to the top of the oven.

  2. Cut grapefruits in halve, and cut around each wedge with a knife, so they can easily scoop out with a spoon.

  3. Set grapefruits on a baking sheet, be sure to leave space between each one.

  4. Sprinkle with sugar

  5. Broil for 5-8 minutes. Don’t walk away! Every broiler is different. Once you see bubbling and golden edges, grapefruits are done!

  6. Sprinkle with salt

  7. Enjoy!
