What You Need to Know About Organic Corn

Our late summer harvest of organic corn is here! We’re so excited to share with you.

Here’s the deal, folks. As an organic grower, we don’t spray our crops to fight pests. Bug resistance is an incredibly common feat for us, and for so many others. And here’s an EAR-full for you: corn is sprayed with chemicals easily 3-4 times per week when grown conventionally.

“Why the heck is corn sprayed so much?” you ask.

Well, because otherwise, cute little caterpillars find the corn and eat the tips.

It is important that you know that, as an organic farm, there is absolutely nothing we can do about this. Finding some mealy corn tips is beyond common. It simply seems uncommon, because nearly no corn is grown organically anymore!

When you receive your corn this week, simply slice off the tippy top of the ear of corn, and prepare as usual.

Happy munching, folks!
