An Egg-cellent New Partnership

We know now better than ever before, that change is really the only constant in life. We can plan for things, sure, but we’ll never really know how things will go, or what the timeline will look like.

We’ve worked with Pasture Chick in San Benito County for the past several years, and are incredibly grateful for their business and partnership (and their eggs, of course!). They have served to bolster our CSA program, helping to provide protein to hundreds of families.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to throw kinks in the supply chain, and as our demand to serve you has only continued to grow, we are bidding farewell to our friends at Pasture Chick and offering a “howdy” to a budding new partnership with O. Duran’s Farms. Pasture Chick will continue to serve their even larger vendor partners, and our new partnership with O. Duran’s will ultimately allow us to dole out the dozens in a bigger way. A win-win for everyone.

O. Duran’s Farm is a growing business just like us, and though a little further away in the Sacramento Valley, we are confident that these pasture-raised eggs will continue to anchor local economies, support agricultural endeavors where it matters most, and ultimately, allow us to continue to provide eggs to you, our CSA members. Farmer Nick and owner Luli worked together years ago for a farm in the Capay Valley. It’s exciting to be creating similar community connections in a totally new way!

Please know, that similarly to Pasture Chick, these eggs are not considered Certified Organic.

Continuing to provide our CSA members with consistency at this time is paramount, and we feel takes precedence over the grade of the feed. The “pasture-raised” title means that the hens receive more square feet of grazing land than other “cage-free” or “free-range” hens. Their quality of life is better than any other model of egg-producing, and between their feed and the diversity of sustenance that they consume from the land leads to a more nutritive, better-tasting egg overall.

As always, we are open and receptive to your concerns and feedback, and continue to value your trust in us as a food-provider.

Here’s to more egg-cellent adventures in farming, and to forging new partnerships!
