Field Notes: A Cut Above The Rest

Transplanting from cuttings can get tricky but this year we are going for it!

It’s our first year growing from cuttings, but certain herbs and flower seeds we’d love to grow were tough to find. Cuttings have their pros and cons. More foliage on the plant means it gets a good head start to establish itself, but genetic diversity is low so there’s a risk factor when it comes to pests and disease.

With the right growing medium, a little gentle care, and all hands on deck in the greenhouse we made it happen! We worked past sunset just shy of the moonrise… So far they’re off to a great start. Our special variety mints have already established healthy root systems!
