Savory and Sweet Persimmon Galette

This week we’re featuring a recipe from Raquel's Kitchen! Wondering what to do with all the gorgeous persimmons in your CSA farm boxes this week? We love how fall colors shine through in this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 rolled pie crust

  • 3 persimmons

  • 2 pinches of cardamom

  • 3 pinches of cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 lemon

  • 1 tablespoon of butter

 

Instructions

  • preheat the oven 385F

  • slice up the 3 persimmons into 1/4” thin slices

  • place persimmon slices in a bowl and toss with 1/2 cup of brown sugar and the juice of 1 lemon and let it sit for at least 10 minutes

  • lined a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil

  • spread butter on the parchment paper or foil

  • place the pie crust on your baking sheet

  • lay out the persimmon slices on your pie crust leaving a border of pie crust about 4 cm

  • add cardamom and cinnamon to top of the persimmons

  • fold the edges of the pie crust around the persimmons
    *pro tip: sprinkle the persimmons with 2-3 pinches of brown sugar to create a golden brown look on top!

  • place the baking sheet in the oven

  • bake for 20 minutes until the edges of your galette is golden brown
    *keep an eye on the galette as oven temperatures tend to fluctuate!

  • remove and let it sit for about 7 minutes

  • slice into wedges and enjoy!
